All Basis persons would have definitely experienced this error when doing an upgrade/add on installation steps. As per Note 1827677, we might face below two scenarios (occurs on SUM/SAINT/SPAM).
Note 1827677 - OCS package does not match software components vers14
Scenario A - Our planned support package/add on installation not compatible for our software component.
Scenario B - Missing ACP file which we upload to overcome this issue
Scenario C - Now, What if hidden Scenario C exists? (faced from my end - near 7 times)
Yes, Mentioned Error will occur on Maintenance Planner(MP) as well while planning for upgrade itself.
Consider my scenario,
1) I'm having S/4HANA 2022 with Vistex s4hana 2022 Add on version (IA_PB,..) as same as S/4HANA 2022 version.
2) I'm doing "Plan S/4 HANA Upgrade" - 2023 FPS02" - It will load updated components but MP might miss to check add on compatibility. (Mostly applies to Third Party, Non-SAP, Non-Usual ABAP Components)
3) Once selection completed, S/4 HANA will be 2023 but Vistex sustains 2022. While proceeding further, it will show error "OCS Package XXX does not match software component vector" error.
4) In our case, We need to use "Install or Maintain Add on" - Select S/4 HANA Vistex 2023.
Mandatory - Vistex V4 Hana Core(V4core) and V4HANA VUI
Support add ons - V4 Hana IA and others based on your requirement.
5) Even if you miss to select Mandatory components but selected vistex s4hana 2023 with other components, It will result with same error "OCS Package does not match..".
6) Once Add on added with updated package, MP will proceed further without any issues.
⭐ Above apply to all kind of real time scenarios based on compatibility and error occur in MP as well - Have shared info with one scenario
