We would have definitely panicked by seeing Free Memory via OS level free -g, ST06 Free Memory which will be usually 1- 5% (99% usage).
✨Yes, It's good sign/performance stat that free memory is 1-5%.
Free Memory is the Unused/Unreserved Memory which won't be used by any process (including SAP). Hence, It should be within 0-5% (max 5-10%).
Once Memory is utilized, It will be assigned to available/cached memory to reuse it.
Actual Free Memory needs to be checked on below ways.
1) free -g -> os level - Available Memory
2) ST06 - Free memory incl. FS cache (Not Free Memory)
Even for HEC/RISE/Private Cloud SAP Managed Systems, No need to reach SAP for checking the OS level outputs. Just use SE38/SA38 Program - RSBDCOS0 Execute.
It will login as SIDADM user in /usr/sap/SID/D*/work directory
Just type command - free -g and press enter. You will get output.
Note 3252927 - Free memory in Linux (Low)
